Present perfect – every learner’s favourite verb tense – plus listening practice – what could be better?

Listen to Fatima take the present perfect challenge with BBC World Service. For follow-up work, there are plenty of links to more exercises around the BBC World Service.

For lower level, or for the basics of present perfect, go to ESL Lab and listen to a robot explain the grammar, and then test yourself on the tense.

A great way to practise your pronunciation is singing along in English. This blog has a selection of present perfect songs – you’ll see the grammar in context, which may help you with understanding.

Combine that with present perfect with this list of songs and activities that all feature present perfect and listening practice with gap fills. Remember, once you have mastered a song, sing it (in English) to your family, friends and study partners!

Good luck!
